A new call for hosts!

February 15, 2009

It’s been a while since I needed to put out a call for hosts of future editions of The Giant’s Shoulders.  Actually, I don’t really need to do it yet, as I’ve had a regular stream of volunteers.

However, it would be nice to fill out the rest of the year with hosts, and I wanted to have a more recent post at which people could volunteer, so here it is!

(You’ll notice I hijacked the 1-year anniversary of the carnival for my blog; I hope I haven’t violated any internet etiquette!)

There are now ten days left until the deadline for the 8th edition of The Giant’s Shoulders, to be held at at Greg Laden’s Blog.  Entries can be submitted through blogcarnival.com or directly to the host blog, as usual!

Congratulations to the Open Laboratory winners!

February 5, 2009

This is a much belated post, but I wanted to congratulate those folks whose TGS and/or “Classic Science Challenge” entries made it into the 2008 edition of The Open Laboratory, the print compilation of some of the best science blog writing of the year!  The historical science blogging winners are:

scicurious of Neurotopia, for Uber Coca, by Sigmund Freud

Mary of The OpenHelix Blog, for The Beginnings of Immunofluorescence

Congrats to both!
